No matter what anyone says, modern art plays a huge role in the culture and life of every person. Some people love it, some people hate it, but most importantly, it leaves no one indifferent. No matter how you feel about contemporary art, it has the power to stimulate your imagination, inspire your creativity and change your life. To see for yourself, check out the Museum of Modern Art Australia, the country's leading art gallery, which features outstanding works by living artists from around the world.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is in one of the world's most scenic locations, on the edge of Circular Quay Harbour in Sydney, with stunning views of the bay, the harbor, and the impressive building of the local opera house. It occupies the former Maritime Services Board Building, built in Art Deco style and donated to the institution in 1989.

The museum officially opened in 1991. The number of people interested in the new gallery was steadily growing, and the institution itself was actively developing and expanding. Many shortcomings of the old building gradually became apparent: poor air circulation, cramped halls, lack of rooms for educational activities, and complicated access to some of the exhibition halls. This prompted a major renovation of the Museum of Modern Art Australia in 2010. As a result, two years later, the former Maritime Services Board Building was completely remodeled for the gallery's needs, and an additional 5-story wing was added next to it. The new ultra-modern building expanded the exhibition space and reflected in its appearance the atmosphere of the institution.

The museum's collection consists of more than 4,000 works by contemporary Australian and international artists. It displays paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations, and other art forms, as well as personal items that help learn about the work processes of contemporary creators. A significant number of the exhibits showcases recent work by indigenous Australians and Torres Strait islanders.
