The residents of Mackay solved this problem by creating a special tourist route – the Bluewater Trail: more than 20 kilometers of paths, ideal for both walking and cycling.

Most of the route runs along the Pioneer River. At the same time, it connects all the main sights of the city. Walking along the Bluewater Trail, you will never miss what you wanted to see in Mackay.

For example, this path will lead you to the Regional Botanical garden. From there, you can go to the Ecological road that leads through pastures to the mouth of the river. Then turn towards the free Bluewater Lagoon pool. And then visit the Bluewater Quay open public space. You can finish the route in Iluka Park or on the city beach.
