When traveling in Australia, you should look into the beautiful rainforest, located in a small place Kuranda (Kuranda). It is near the city of Cairns.
The town of Kuranda is more like a developed village with a population of no more than 2000 people. But at the same time, there is a very developed tourist service: cafes, restaurants, a variety of tourist shops. There is even a zoo among the nature surrounding Kuranda.
There is also an opportunity to ride the Kuranda Scenic Railway. This is a tourist railway, the route of which passes very close to the famous and impressive for its beauty waterfall Barron Falls. Initially, this railway was almost a strategic object: in the 19th century, it transported products grown by the first settlers from Europe, who made Kuranda a successful agricultural region. Along the way, weapons and strategic food supplies were delivered during wars. Today it is a beautiful tourist attraction. And the station on this road is the oldest and most beautiful station in all of Australia.
Once in Kuranda, you should visit the small zoo Kuranda Koala Gardens. As the name suggests, the main inhabitants of this place are wonderful koala bears. Children are particularly excited by the fact that at the entrance, instead of a paper ticket, each visitor is given a temporary tattoo with a koala.
After the zoo, you can ride the 7.5 km Skyrail Rainforest cable car. By the way, this is the first cable car in Australia. Moreover, at the time of completion (1995), it was the longest cable car in the world.
And, of course, the cherry on top is Barron Falls. Remember to pay attention to road signs on the way to it: "Slow down – there are cassowaries on the road". Yes, large flightless birds, similar to ostriches, walk around quite freely. Therefore, on the road, you need to be as careful as possible, so as not to get into a ridiculous accident with a bird.
