Greenock Creek Wines in the Barossa Valley, Australia has gained fame as a red wine lover's paradise. It is located in the heart of the charming town of Marananga, an hour's drive from Adelaide, it offers visitors an equally attractive journey into the rich and varied world of local wine traditions.

Greenock Creek Wines was founded in 1984 by a bricklayer named Michael Wu. He arrived in the Barossa Valley with his wife Annabelle in the early seventies. In 1976, the couple bought an old 20-hectare farmhouse which later became a legend of Australian winemaking. However, at that time, nothing foreshadowed such a successful outcome of events. Although the picturesque property was surrounded by orchards of fruit trees and fields of perennial vineyards, the entire farm was in a dilapidated state and required large investments from the new owners. Even the estate building itself had to be restored. It took Michael and Annabelle almost ten years to complete the preparatory work, which later paid off with interest.

The winery has been a long and thorny path to glory, which was full of trial, error, and priceless experience. For example, at first, the spouses were making wine from a world-famous and a favorite white Chardonnay grape, but they didn't achieve any success. The fact is that the popular grape turned out to be unsuitable for the local soil and climate, and it took a while for the young winemakers to understand and recognize this fact. But Michael and Annabelle never gave up. They never stopped learning from their mistakes, exchanging knowledge with more experienced colleagues, and taking new steps toward their dreams.

In the mid-90s, the couple bought another old manor, the farm of which also had to be restored for several years. That time Michael and Annabel took into account all their previous mistakes and enlisted the support of professional winemakers. They relied on red varieties of grapes that eventually proved to be excellent in the Barossa Valley and made Greenock Creek famous around the world.
