A small My Khanh Village settled not far from the floating market of Cai Rang on the bank of the Mekong River. After buying fresh fruits on the market, you can start your trip. In the village, you will see how these fruits grow.
The village is a botanical garden and a garden plot at the same time. There you will see mango, jackfruit, strawberry, durian, and many other fruit trees. Fruity and floral aromas knock down, intoxicate... The freshness of this place makes you go crazy, and you do not want to leave the fruit garden.
However, the further you go, the more you see. The village has its status for a reason. This is the place where people really live, where they are engaged in traditional crafts, which, by the way, you can learn too. Locals live in small wooden houses with straw roofs. If you want, you can stay in such a house for several days.
On the territory of the village, there is one of the oldest buildings in the city – an ancient house called Nam Bo. It was built more than one hundred years ago. That house is the mirror to the past of Vietnam. Its exterior and interior are exactly what they were in the last century. Nam Bo is the house of typical representatives of the local aristocracy. Luxury can be noticed immediately. The house is surrounded by a fabulous garden with fragrant flowers. The facade and the furniture inside are decorated with figure wood carving. Inside, there is a lot of space: numerous halls are spacious. In general, the interior of the house is impressively detailed.
After you explored that mini-museum, you can go back to the village. That is not all the surprises. During the sunset, the My Khanh Village starts to be filled with dances, singing and theatrical performances.
After visiting the village, you will leave it not only overfilled with emotions, impressions and memories, but you will also have new skills. For example, you can participate in the production of rice paper. You can celebrate the result with a cup of rice bitters. Everything that you produced can be taken with you as souvenirs.
