The nearby cave of Dau Go impresses visitors with its majesty and originality, but Dong Thien Cung cave has the redeeming features of monumentality and even modernity. In this place, there is not that much unique flora and fauna, which have been forming for thousands of years. Vaults of grottoes are not that high. Sophisticated stalagmites and stalactites are not that very majestic. However, this does not make Thien Cung cave less beautiful and popular. On the contrary, this place is always full of people who enjoy a calm walking along cozy and equipped streets of the spacious stone city hidden deep in a cliff.
This cave was discovered by a lucky chance, though it was well known to our distant ancestors. Thien Cung was accidentally found by a local fisher in the middle of the 1990s. A bit later scientists discovered numerous finds, including stone tools and spears. Within a short period of time, a lost stone city turned into one of the most famous attractions of Ha Long Bay.
The name of the cave means «Heaven Cave» or «Heaven Adobe» in Vietnamese. Indeed, it looks like an eye-catching underground paradise.
From the first seconds the first grotto of Thien Cung catches the imagination of visitors. The cliff textures of walls are filled with an astonishing and sophisticated gallery of paintings with various images and plots created by light and shades. Stalactites, which hang over the head, resemble numerous crystal chandeliers.
In the second grotto of the cave, visitors are welcomed by huge stone columns decorated with sophisticated carving from the bottom to the top. This amazing decor was created by nature itself. Other stalactites and stalagmites are smaller. They are gathered into groups and look like a weightless tulle flowing in the wind. It is the interior of a true Heaven Palace, isn’t it?
The last grotto of Thien Cung looks like a fairy-tale ballroom, where random beams of natural light merge with colorful artificial lighting to highlight the majestic stone interior of the cave together.
