Ha Long Bay has many astonishing islands, visiting which can take you more than a month. Some people come there just to have a rest on sandy beaches and swim in clear seawater, others rush to go for a fascinating journey across numerous rock formations of the bay and explore every unknown plot of land on their own. Ha Long Bay is a paradisal place for everyone.
The mountain island of Dau Go became one of the most popular places of the bay among those who appreciate nature and an active way of life. It is located not far from the main resort city, just like many other land areas. It offers tourists several interesting and spectacular options for leisure.
From the seaside, Dau Go may look like a common stone mountain covered with fluffy greenery. Besides, it seems to rise above the water surface among others, also not remarkable cliffs. In fact, the island keeps a huge natural heritage – that can be compared to the treasure of the dead pharaohs which is kept beyond the strong walls of Egyptian pyramids.
Going deeply into the slopes of Dau Go, you will find one of the most famous attractions of the bay – a cave, in honor of which the island got its name. This is the biggest natural grotto in Ha Long which will not leave any visitor indifferent. Take for example the impressions of French colonists who first discovered and explored Dau Go in the 19th century. They could not find other words to describe what they saw, so they simply said: «Grotte des Marveilles» (a Cave of Wonders).
Do not miss the grotto called Thien Cung which is located not far from there. This is a spacious cave of a natural origin with sophisticated stalactites and stalagmites. Thanks to the astonishing scenery and fantastic rock formations, the Thien Cung grotto got its poetic name which means «Heavenly Cave» in Vietnamese.
