The modern city of Fujairah is known to the world for its wide roads with expensive cars rushing past mirrored skyscrapers, as well as white sandy beaches and the calm waters of the Gulf of Oman, protected by picturesque mountains. But the real gem of the city is the collection of the Fujairah Museum, which allows visitors to explore the emirate's rich history and culture.

The Fujairah Museum was opened by Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Emirate's ruler, in 1991. The expansion plan was finally completed only 7 years later. The modern museum is a two-story red stone building. It consists of five spacious halls, two of which are dedicated to archaeological finds and other antiquities.

Life in the emirate of Fujairah appeared more than 5000 years ago. This is evidenced by the museum's oldest exhibits, dating back to 3,000 years BC. Here you can find primitive bronze ornaments, the first coins, and some household items made of clay and decorated with quaint geometric ornaments. Special attention should be paid to the U-shaped tomb, which was completely transferred to the museum. It is more than 4000 years old, but it is well preserved. Other valuable archaeological finds in the Antiquities Hall are arrowheads and ceramic vessels found in the temple near Bidya and the tombs of Al-Badia, Qidfa, and Dibba (the settlements that are part of the emirate).

Other halls display cultural and historical heritage objects. The first tells visitors about traditional local occupations such as farming and fishing, pottery and weaving, and commerce, brought to the level of art by modern UAE residents. The second room is devoted to articles of clothing and weapons. Here you can see traditional national costumes, festive and casual clothing, and ancient weapons, lavishly decorated in oriental style with paintings and precious stones. In the third hall, there is a small bazaar of fragrant spices and a souvenir shop with handmade products, where everyone can buy a small piece of the culture of these amazing people.
