Throughout its history, Turkey was the «cradle» of different empires, beginning with the majestic Hittite Empire to the great Ottoman Empire. Archeological excavations are still undergoing on its territory. New hill forts get discovered again and again. Collections of museum artifacts get renewed. Those who are not fond of history and culture and who are not attracted by the archeological monuments go there for luxurious hotels, golden sand beaches and warm sea. However, not everyone knows that Turkey is not only a place of ancient history and a perfect beach vacation but also a place full of mountain peaks, snow-white cliffs and perfectly equipped skiing pistes. It is all possible on the peak of the extinct volcano in the vicinity of Kayseri in the center of this amazing country.
The modern Erciyes mountain ski resort was founded in 2004 at an altitude of around 4000 meters above sea level. The ski season there is long and lasts from November to May. The depth of the snow cover is around 2 meters. Although all the ski slopes are equipped with snow blowers, they are rarely needed as the snowfalls are often there and the stable low temperature prevents it from melting.
Around 40 ski pistes for different experience levels with a total length of more than 100 km are interconnected and have the same ski-pass. The cableways are equipped with the new lifts. There are two gondola and several chair cabins. The last even have the heated seats. In addition to all these conditions, imagine the absence of queues, available prices and the dry climate which is a special feature of the resort. Mountain sun is very bright and warm. The soft wind blows snow peaks only in the evening – so it means that there you can go skiing even in your swimsuit.
