First, get your cameras and take a couple of pictures. Then, put on your swimsuit and take a dip in the warm water in the middle of the snow-white mountains called Pamukkale.
Actually, huge drifts of snow and ice are just carbonate minerals. So even though they do not melt in the hand, they gradually disappear anyway. White crystals on the surface of the water began to appear about 400,000 years ago. The «cotton castle» as locals call Pamukkale for its huge, cotton-like steps, is located near Denizli. Today, it is one of the most famous spa resorts in Turkey. The main attraction is natural pools with warm water saturated with minerals that reflect the sea in clear weather. All this produces a truly fantastic effect.
«Baby soft skin», «health for many years», – says an advertisement in travel agencies. Basically, it is true! The minerals that from these mountains are not only the perfect backdrop for another vacation photo but also natural medicine. The ancient Greeks were the first to appreciate the healing effect, and then the rumor about the rejuvenating waters reached Egypt. The Egyptian Queen Cleopatra herself took baths in the fresh air here. One of the pools is even named after this legendary beauty. Perhaps you can really improve your health, but you will have to visit Pamukkale at least every week. But anyway, this is a pleasant outdoor attraction.
The mystery of this place is created by debris of columns, boulders and marble fragments of Roman thermal springs. All this forms the bottom of the pools, so you need to walk carefully.
The resort has excellent infrastructure. There are showers and changing rooms next to each pool. Besides, ropes are stretched along the sides of the pools to prevent guests from falling.
Although the limestone mountains of Pamukkale can only be walked barefoot, the resort is getting smaller and smaller each year and loses its snow-white color.
