You may go to Turkey for the sea, sunbathing, lots of food and historical attractions or you may go there for snow and snowbanks. Not far from one of the oldest cities of the former Ottoman Empire, there is the Uludağ Mountain Ski Resort.
In Uludağ, you can go skiing and snowboarding or you can just enjoy the snow dunes and the fresh mountain air.
The resort is located 35 km from Bursa. There you can find pistes of all kinds: for beginners and for professionals. They are located at an altitude from 1750 to 2543 meters above sea level. If you like the free ride (skiing in fresh snow past the trees, stopping and staring at the blue sky through tree branches), then you will definitely like this place. Most of the pistes pass through forests. The picturesque views of the mountains, a forest and the old city from afar make a huge impression.
In the evening after skiing or in the morning before going up on the mountain you may go to the national park of the same name. There you will also find animals, birds and butterflies which definitely worth attention. For example, hawks, vultures, peregrine falcons, mountain Apollos and other representatives of fauna. As for flora, it is even richer! Probably even the staff members of the park do not know the exact number of all the plants of the park. Uludağ is the place of total unity with nature! There you can relax as well as work out. Moreover, there you can get the opportunity to take some rest in the warm thermal springs. This is really needed after the whole day of skiing. This resort is literally heaven on earth!
If you want to spend your time in more «industrial» conditions, then you are welcomed in the wolfram production mines! They are located not far from the peak of Uludağ. When the works were active there, wagons full of people went here and there. But at the end of the previous century, the mine was closed as the production was unprofitable.
After skiing and visiting all the attractions you may come back to Bursa and take a walk along the narrow streets of the old city one more time.
