To feel like you are in seventh heaven is possible not only in paradise. Just a few kilometers from the busy metropolis of Bangkok, there is Erawan National Park, a nook of the pristine nature of Thailand. Unlike the mythical seven heavens, seven earthly waterfall cascades of Erawan are quite real. Although their beauty takes you away to the magical realm of nature, fascinates you with the sounds of falling water, beating solid stones. The waterfall got its name due to the amazing similarity of the seventh cascade to the mythical white three-headed elephant called Erawan. With a length of 1700 meters and a height of 831 meters, the fabulous emerald-colored waterfall is one of the main natural attractions of the country. Two rushing streams, Omtala and Mong Lai, run down the rocky slopes covered by dense greenery. It makes the atmosphere unique, and Javanese and Bengal macaques become the main spectators of this performance.
Despite the appearance of wild nature, there are equipped routes and wooden bridges towards the waterfall. It’s common to see locals coming for a romantic weekend to the foot of the first two cascades. Tourists are mostly interested in the third one, which has a spacious reservoir with large fish. In the rivers that form the waterfall, you can see numerous schools of the doctor fish, the ones swimming in the pools of spa salons for natural skin peeling. Bamboo stairs lead to the upper seventh cascade. Brave travelers will be worthily rewarded with a wonderful view of the highest cascade of the waterfall looking like a sacred elephant of the Hindu god Indra – the god of thunder and lightning, the king of all gods. Actually, Erawan does not end on the seventh cascade. As local people claim, there are several more levels, but the road to them is dangerous to life. Moreover, nothing can compare to the upper level in terms of beauty. So, it’s better to stop at the seventh heaven of Thailand and feel the happiest.
