MahaNakhon Skyscraper amazes with its unusual architecture. It is 314 meters high and is the second tallest building in Thailand and 63rd in Asia.
A genuinely unique phenomenon was created by the German architect Ole Scheeren. MahaNakhon is a unique building that houses a shopping and entertainment center, a restaurant, 2 observation decks, and a hotel (The Edition Boutique Hotel) with 159 rooms and 209 apartments.
MahaNakhon impresses with its futuristic appearance, which distinguishes it from other skyscrapers in Bangkok. The building resembles a hologram, the three-dimensional image of which seems to fragment into pixels. The skyscraper seems to be destroyed, but according to the architect, this shape makes it easier for its residents to communicate with the outside world. There are balconies and terraces in the «dropped» cubic blocks or «pixels». Translucent facades intensify the «pixelation» effect. The skyscraper, together with its companion 7-story «Cube», organically fits into the modern look of one of the central areas of Bangkok – Bang Rak.
The skyscraper is equipped with the latest technology, there is a lot of interactive entertainment that will be interesting to both adults and children. At the entrance to the building, there is a clock that shows the time in New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, and Dubai. But this is not just a clock: come closer and you will see your projection in the style of the iconic The Matrix movies. The way to the elevator passes through the Digital Walls multimedia corridor. Interactive Sky Rides will give you the experience of paragliding over the city, desert, or even in space.
There is an Indoor Observation Area on the 74th floor of the skyscraper. You can get there in 50 seconds by high-speed elevator. The trip promises to be fast and not boring for sure: as soon as the doors of the elevator close, all its surfaces turn into a screen that shows the main Bangkok’s attractions. All this performance is accompanied by sound special effects. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view. It is recommended to visit it at 5 pm so that you can enjoy the view of the city by daylight, sunset and night lighting. In clear weather, it’s even possible to see the Gulf of Siam from there. In the northeast, you can see the long Sukhumvit Highway and the Lumpini and Benjakiti parks. In the south, the Chao Phraya River draws fanciful patterns on the horizon. Using the free internet, you can get additional information about all the structures and even use the augmented reality service.
On the 75th floor, you may visit the restaurant Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar with a capacity of 232 seats. You can reach it by a pneumatic cylindrical elevator that moves up and down under atmospheric pressure.
Besides, MahaNakhon houses an Orient Express Hotel with a swimming pool, spas, a cinema, restaurants, and bars. There is also a kind of residential area with insanely expensive apartments: their cost is from 1 to 17 million dollars.
