The best way to get acquainted with the history of a country, understand its culture and learn about its peoples' habits and traditions, which are passed on from generation to generation, is to get immersed into its atmosphere by everyday living among the indigenous people. This will take a lot of time and yet will be very interesting. Many people dream about it. However, what about a tourist who wants to learn and visit several countries at once or, even more, all the countries, taking into consideration that life is too short to see everything? For that purpose locals of many countries make authentic settlements and thematic parks.
For the sake of getting acquainted with the culture of Korean people, you need to go to the city of Yongin and visit the main attraction of the city – a traditional Korean village. This very picturesque place is an open-air museum with 250 traditional houses which are located in the traditional Korean street. People live there like they did many ages ago. You can visit an old village school or craft workshops, try to master at least one of the twenty of the ancient crafts. Then you can go to a local tavern and enjoy the traditional food (e.g. rice cakes and spring onion pancakes). There is also a traditional tea house where every guest will be treated to a cup of the fragrant drink. After all, you can go to the garden of sculptures or visit one of the museum exhibition halls which are located on the territory of the village.
In the evening, guests may watch an amazing theatrical performance called «Nongak». It combines playing musical instruments, dances and acrobatic feats. Probably the most spectacular performance are: the demonstrations of funambulists and masters of martial arts as well as wedding and ritual ceremonies of shamans.
