The world-known skyscraper which is called Yuksam Building (63 Building) is a hallmark of the South Korean capital and is one of the most popular attractions of Seoul. Construction of the famous building that is 274 meters high started in 1980 and lasted for 5 years. Its grand opening ceremony was in 1985. During the whole year, the capital skyscraper was the tallest building of Asia (it was 35 meters higher than the Japanese skyscraper named Sunshine 60). Today, the Yuksam Building takes the honorary third place among the highest constructions of South Korea.
The fantastic mirror building made in golden color rises above the country’s most important Han River and consists of 63 floors, three of which are located underground. On the top 60th floor, there is the viewing platform which is popular among tourists and locals. Part of it is made out of transparent glass. Inside the skyscraper, there are 6 high-speed panoramic elevators, which can take visitors to the tower viewing platform in less than 5 seconds. By the way, these are some of the most high-speed lifts in the world.
The Yuksam Building houses more than 100 world-known brand boutiques, restaurants of the world popular cuisines, multiplex IMAX – the cinema with the biggest screen in Asia, the modern art museum named 63 Sky Art and the museum of wax figures which can easily compete with the exhibits of the famous Madame Tussauds Museum. However, the main attraction of the Seoul skyscraper is one of the biggest aquariums in the country – 63 Sea World. There you can see more than 400 species of marine and freshwater creatures like muraenas and piranhas, graceful rays, hundreds of bright tropical fish as well as funny penguins and huge crocodiles – the most popular inhabitants of the aquarium.
The construction of giant South Korean skyscrapers started exactly from the Yuksam Building. As a result, Korean architects and engineers became the most demanding specialists in Asia.
