The modern megacity of Incheon combines tall skyscrapers with glowing mirror faces that look like giant Atlantes, holding the heavens on their shoulders, and an ecologically pure water park named Songdo. The true wilderness areas which are skillfully placed into the landscape of modern cities are usual for South Korea and can be seen in all localities. However, Songdo Central Park is the first place in the country where an artificial reservoir was created. The reservoir receives the water directly from the Yellow Sea.
The unique pond is not the only reason to visit this astonishing recreation place. Every square meter of the city park territory was perfectly thought out by the best landscape designers of the country. Talented modern artists complemented it with their masterpieces.
The fantastic green park which covers an area of more than 40 hectares was opened in 2009. World-renowned New York Central Park served as an inspiration for its creation. So, all the residents of the European and American continents who come to Songdo Central Park for the first time, get a familiar feeling which is so-called déjà vu.
The stunning marine reservoir of the park is an artificial channel that is crossed by four thematic bridges. In the middle of the pond, there is a small island that is inhabited by dozens of fluffy rabbits. Although rabbits are not the only representatives of the fauna of the park, they became the center of attention of the visitors. The vibrant life of the island inhabitants is especially appreciated by its young guests. You can get to the island by kayak or canoe. On your way to the destination, you can feed flocks of brightly colored wild ducks that quickly move on the water surface. Besides, there is a spacious aviary with wild deer on the territory of the park. The deer will be happy to eat slices of fresh carrots brought by caring guests.
