In the Philippines, there are many unusual and attractive places. One of them is the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999.
This national park is a true natural miracle. It is home to more than 155 species of exotic birds that can be found only there, as well as around 30 species of small exotic mammals and reptiles. Guests get surprised here and there by incredible plants, most of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. And, of course, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River that seems to hid among cliffs.
Karst landscape with stalagmites and stalactites, that surround the subterranean river, impresses the most during a trip in that majestic park. When the sun gets into the cave, its walls and the water get painted with all the rainbow colors, making a magical optical effect – it looks like travelers are not inside the cave but in a giant diamond, whose facets shimmer with bright colors.
The cave with a river is loved by photographs because of its cosmic scenery. They come there on special tours, wishing to take incredible pictures of this literally unearthly beauty.
During the trip along the Subterranean River, guests meet local inhabitants – big and small bats. They pose no danger. But when they are approaching tourists, bats are flying up making an unusual and quite loud noise.
Apart from a fascinating trip along the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, you can take a rest on the snow-white beaches of the park. The beaches are some of the best in the Philippines. Besides, you may go diving. There is no special diving-center there, but there are instructors, and the equipment for rent is provided. So, if you have at least a minimum experience in diving, then it is worth going underwater to see the bright and diversified beauty of the oceanic part of the national park.
