When you travel to any country and then return to your native land, you always feel that you did not have enough time to visit some places or see something interesting and that there are still so many fabulous places left. You want to once again see the beauty of the whole country with all its landmarks, historical and cultural monuments, picturesque parks, and blooming gardens.
Although it is difficult to imagine, every guest of the capital Nur-Sultan can see all the main sights of the Republic of Kazakhstan in just a few hours. The unique Ethno-Memorial Complex «Atameken Maps of Kazakhstan» was opened in the Central City Park in 2001 thanks to the support of the former president of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The geographical mini-map of Kazakhstan, with an area of about 2 hectares, is an unusual model of the country, which includes all the important sights: the mountain peaks of Alatau and the endless Kazakh steppes, cotton and rice fields, dense forests, blue lakes, and even the Caspian Sea. Here you can see small regions and large cities, ancient temples, mosques and architectural monuments, roads, and railways. In total, there are more than 200 exhibits. Their number is constantly growing, because the culture of prosperous Kazakhstan is developing, and new, more majestic architectural masterpieces are appearing on its territory.
In the center of the Ethno-Memorial Complex, there is an open arena for cultural and social events. That is the starting point of green paths that diverge and form several sectors. All of them represent different periods of time in the history of Kazakhstan, thus the authors of the fantastic project managed to combine space and time in one place. There are also several small craft workshops where you can not only watch masters from different regions at work of the country but also buy souvenirs.
