The idea of creating a giant entertainment park called Mini Indonesia with an area of more than 150 hectares came to the former first lady of the country, Siti Hartinah. She suggested creating a space in the capital where all guests of the country could learn the history and culture of people from all provinces. The wonderful park opened its doors in 1975.
In the very center, there is an artificial lake with miniature islands precisely replicating the map of Indonesia. The lake is surrounded by pavilions representing the provinces of the country. Here you can see traditional dwellings of each province in full size, learn the way of life and culture of its people, view the national costumes, and hear musical instruments. Copies of magnificent temples, including a mosque, a Confucian temple, Buddhist and Hindu shrines, and even Catholic and Protestant churches, shows the diversity of religions in Indonesia. Extensive collections of more than 15 museums tell the history of the country. Besides, many flower gardens, bird and reptile parks, aquariums and even a waterfall easily transfer visitors to the real kingdom of wildlife.
