The Shanghai Tower is the tallest skyscraper in Asia and the second tallest in the world. It is surpassed only by the Burj Khalifa, which is almost 200 meters higher.

The height of the Shanghai Tower is 632 meters. It is surrounded by other famous skyscrapers of the city – the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center. Together, they form an ultra-modern architectural ensemble that adorns the city and gives it a recognizable appearance.

It is better to view the Shanghai Tower from afar. Go to the famous Waitan embankment, which offers a wonderful view of the entire Pudong district and all the skyscrapers. After walking along the Huangpu River, start approaching the Shanghai Tower to understand how big it is.

The project of the building was developed and coordinated for almost 15 years, and its construction took about 3 years. The skyscraper has the shape of an asymmetric twisted cone. This design was not chosen by chance – it protects the building from strong winds. Besides, the innovative shape of the skyscraper allowed to reduce the number of expensive metal structures and glass panels at the construction stage, and today it continues to save money on the maintenance of the building.

Curiously, at the time of construction in 2015, the Shanghai Tower received the status of the «greenest» skyscraper in the world. Today, it continues to be one of the main examples of eco-friendly construction. The building gets the maximum amount of natural light, which helps to save on electricity. Double-layer glass facades protect the interior from excessive cold and heat from the outside. The skyscraper is equipped with modern devices that allow you to process the energy of wind, sun, and rainwater.

What to do in the Shanghai Tower? Take the world's fastest elevator and climb to the highest observation deck, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of Shanghai. Leave a note on the wish tree and drop cards for your loved ones in the world's tallest mailbox. Visit a local museum and take a walk through the tallest Chinese-style inner garden, Half Garden. If you can afford it, check into the luxury J Hotel to enjoy the Shanghai Tower every day.
