Every day the fantastic world of fashion is conquered by new talented designers, popular brands are born and expensive boutiques and spacious shopping centers are opened. Shopping has long ceased to be a privilege of high society. Now fastidious customers want to combine it with other entertainment. So there are giant malls, where thousands of tourists come from all over the world as if on an excursion. In addition to numerous shops and supermarkets, they want to enjoy a variety of restaurant cuisine and modern cinema technologies. Until recently, the whole world was amazed by the construction of giant shopping centers in America. And today a new leader in the fight for the title of the largest shopping center appeared on the horizon.
The new South China Mall shopping and entertainment complex was built in the vicinity of the Chinese city of Dongguan in 2005. With an area of more than a million square meters and a cost of more than a billion dollars, it was able to accommodate about 2,500 stores on its five floors. But despite the splendor of the shopping areas, as well as successful marketing moves such as the life-size copy of Arc de Triomphe of Paris, copies of the Egyptian pyramid, and the Venetian Campanile of St. Mark's Cathedral, its opening was not crowned with the desired success. Its vast territory, divided into themed areas in the style of European capitals and cities – Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, and Venice, as well as Egypt, California, and the Caribbean Islands, remained empty for ten years. The press even gave the shopping center the offensive nickname – «Ghost».
Only after a long ten years, the shopping areas of the center began to sparkle with new colors. Today hundreds of stores are opening one after another on its territory. Besides, a modern cinema built in the shape of a globe is ready to receive all visitors. Roller coasters and Venetian canals with gondolas have been re-launched. So now long-awaited guests can use them to move even inside the shopping center.
