Taj Mahal Bangladesh
Narayanganj and surrounding

If you don’t have a chance to go to India to visit the incredible Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of architecture, then go to Bangladesh. There’s one quite similar building, but a little bit smaller and newer in Narayanganj.

Ahsan Ullah Moni realized that most of the population of Bangladesh probably could never have a chance to visit the Taj Mahal. Because the country is very poor and people do not possess enough money to travel. So Moni decided to give Bangladesh its own Taj Mahal. The project cost a philanthropic producer $56 million.

The pink fountains, the bright green bushes, and the white buildings of the Taj Mahal Bangladesh can hardly leave someone indifferent. The Indians may resent the fact that a copy of their shrine is in Bangladesh. But the rest of the tourists will definitely admire the beauty and sophistication of the building.

The Taj Mahal Bangladesh is open for visitors every day from 10 am. You can admire the copy of the Mausoleum all day long only for 150 takas (taka is a Bangladeshi currency). The Taj Mahal covers an area of 15,000 hectares. Besides the complex itself, there are fountains and beautiful gardens. There is even a restaurant where you can take a short break from the excursion and try some national dishes.

Like the original, the Taj Mahal in Bangladesh consists of the main building, surrounded by a square fence, and four minarets in each corner. The building looks as it is from a fairy tale. Sparkling water in small ponds and fountains adds to the magical atmosphere.

The Taj Mahal Bangladesh, of course, cannot compare with a 350-year-old original one, but they still look very similar in the photos. Besides, they are both white. Over the 12 years since it was finished, the monument still has its whiteness. The marble is still clean.

If you’ve ever been to India, you can appreciate how skillful and credibly a copy has been made. And if not, do not worry – just enjoy the beautiful monument.
