Unusual places

Queen Maud Land is a snowy desert. It attracts with its silence and boundless white landscapes giving way to a series of dark mountains. This is a good place for climbers and extreme artists creating beauty at sub-zero temperatures.

The first person coming to this lifeless land was the Scottish navigator William Spears Bruce in 1904. After that, the Norway whalers docked on the island. In particular, these were the ships of the Riser-Larsen’s Norwegian expedition. In 1930, his ships moored there. Scientists carefully examined the territory. They named it through Charlotte Maria Victoria Maud - the Princess of Wales and the Queen of Norway.

The 30s of the 20th century are the most interesting period in the history of Queen Maud Land. The fascist occultists considered the territory in Antarctica to be the former Atlantis. They were assured that it was the place of high power and secrets of the Overmind. Since 1935, German researchers had frequent secret expeditions to the land. According to unconfirmed reports, they found unusual oases and a large system of caves with warm air. The caves were connected by long passages. Goering’s brave pilots made a special flight. They enclosed a large area of Antarctica, more than the square of Germany, and scattered metal signs with swastikas over it.

We do not know whether the Germans found something unusual. Their archives were destroyed. The modern scientists have not found any evidence of all these rumors.

Today, the territory of Queen Maud Land does not belong to any country. People can use it just for scientific research. There is located several active scientific stations. The largest ones are the Russian Novolazarevskaya and the German Neumayer.
