Many people believe that there is a special entrance to another dimension, to another world, which is better or just more interesting than ours. A world of spirits and strange creatures. There is such an entrance not far from the city of Tanga in Africa. It looks like a black hole bordered by huge stone battlements. These are the Amboni Caves.

You probably won't end up in another world, but you will learn a lot of interesting things on the way there. After the bright and blinding sun of Africa, it is very difficult to get used to the pitch darkness. The guide turns on a flashlight and begins a journey through a mysterious dark maze.

No one knows exactly how these caves were formed. Scientists have several versions. Some of them believe that huge grottoes and tunnels were dug by underground waters. Others are convinced that the reason for their appearance lies in carbon dioxide, which dissolves minerals. However, everyone agrees that these caves are about 150 million years old and they appeared during the Jurassic period, twenty years of which they spent underwater. At the moment, the Amboni Caves are the largest in East Africa. The area of all the grottoes and tunnels is about 234 square kilometers, but don't worry, you won't have to walk underground for so long. Only part of it is available for visiting.

The proximity of the otherworldly and mysterious is felt already at the first steps into the darkness. Somewhere you can hear the dull sound of a falling drop or the flapping of a bat's wings. By the way, there are thousands of them here. On some walls of the cave, you can see inscriptions or drawings. There is a legend that Kenyan rebels were once hiding here from British troops. They may have left these inscriptions. Or they were left by the ancient inhabitants of these lands, who also used the caves as a shelter.

The Amboni Caves provide a very interesting and unusual experience. It seems to be nothing special - just a cool stone. But rocks of bizarre shape beckon, so you immediately want to unravel their mystery.
