Lake Ngozi

Rivers, Lakes

Banana palms on the right, thickets of bamboo on the left, and in front -a volcano crater, which eventually became one of the wonders of the world. Lake Ngozi is the second largest crater lake in Africa. It's huge. It is hard to believe that once there was a crater of an active volcano. It seems that it is just an ordinary lake.

The mountain is no longer dangerous. The volcano has been dormant for a long time, and the lake and its surroundings actively attract tourists. To enjoy the beauty of the lake, you will have to go through a dense jungle. The guide, who comes "complete" with a ticket, will take you along the most scenic path. The trail is very beautiful but quite dangerous. There may be gorges that you can easily fall into. Look around: there is a chance to see really rare and beautiful animals here. The forests near the lake are home to hornbills, monkeys, iguanas, and many others.

Treading carefully on the path, you gradually approach the goal. The trees begin to thin out, the palm leaves are getting smaller, and then you step on the edge of the crater. Now there is a dense forest around you, and below - a huge lake with emerald water about 300 meters deep. An incredible view! Very beautiful!

Be careful, the crater is constantly expanding. There are traces of a landslide on the rocks. However, if you look closely, you can see small figures of people at the very edge of the water. These are locals. They are not afraid of the naughty lake and boldly go down the cliffs to fish.

You can also get to the very edge. To do this, you will need to return to the forest again. Follow your guide through the dense thickets with playing monkeys and singing birds. With each step, the air becomes fresher and the splash of water is heard better. Get out your swimsuits. Locals believe that the waters of the lake have a healing effect. You just need to swim!
