In the Argentine city of Parana, there is a gorgeous cathedral. It is Catedral de Nuestra Senora del Rosario, the main Catholic temple of the city.
From a historical point of view, the cathedral is very interesting. Catedral de Nuestra Senora del Rosario is the fourth temple built on this site. Before it, there were built and demolished three churches. It was happening from 1732 to 1882.
The fourth sacred building, the current one, was built by the architect Juan Bautista Arnaldi. He did his job thoroughly and believed that the construction of this cathedral was the main affair of his life. The architect was working with the creative team. And the result was excellent.
Blue and white Catedral de Nuestra Senora del Rosario is monumental, but it seems so light! The look of the cathedral combines different styles and directions but does it harmoniously.
The three-nave cathedral was opened in 1885. The voice of the temple is four bells. One of them is cast from gold and silver items offered by citizens.
At its main entrance, you can see an expressive four-meter statue of St. Peter made of marble. This is an exact copy of the statue in the Basilica of St. Peter. According to some data, next to his figure, there should be a statue of another saint, but it drowned with the ship going to Argentina from Europe.
Catedral de Nuestra Senora del Rosario is built in the shape of a Latin cross. The temple is decorated with 92 columns. 16 of them, the central ones, are made of Carrara marble. The rest is of stone. The top of the facade has a bronze statue of Christ the Redeemer, put there in 1901.
