Nashville is the homeland of country musical style. It was invented here and became the most popular style in the city. The Hall of Fame and the Country Music Museum is one of the largest centers studying popular music and keeping country music artifacts.
In the early 60s, developing and popularizing country music was gaining momentum. But the association was aiming not only to popularize the country but also to study other styles. It was decided to establish Hall of Fame and Country Music Museum.
In April 1967, the museum opened its doors to visitors. The building was erected in place of the former city park. The exposition was not big and took little space. In addition to art items, records, and musical instruments, there were books. So, it was decided to open a library telling about the country, its origin, and its development.
The main exposition of the museum “Go Home”, shows the history of country music. Visitors learn about the origin of this musical style and history of performers. The exhibition has rotating exhibits and sound.
Country Music Museum also owns the Country Music Association and Taylor Swift Educational Center. It introduces unique programs teaching various musical styles, analyzes the growth of popularity, and makes forecasts. Besides, there are areas for rent in case of a large event, a wedding or other celebration.
Country Music Hall of Fame is the highest award a performer can receive. It is rather hard to get a membership here. Every year, Hall of Fame meets more than twelve new professionals in this field.
