The world-famous Khokhloma painting, which is more than three centuries old, appeared in the village of Khokhloma, where talented masters have painted wooden items since ancient times. Every year wooden dishes were brought to the bazaar in Khokhloma from all over the region. There they turned into real works of art, worthy of the royal table. With the love and recognition of the Russian people, the traditional Khokhloma painting became a welcome guest at international exhibitions, including the famous one in Paris in 1889. This event increased the demand for the products of the Volga region craftsmen, which resulted in the creation of a small cooperative called "Craftsman-Artist" in the city of Semyonov. It was headed by the talented Russian artist Georgy Matveev, whose monument adorns the territory of the modern factory "Khokhloma painting", as well as the sculpture of the legendary Semyon-Lozhkar. Today, the world-famous factory produces over 1000 items of decorative and applied art, more than 70% of which are exported. That proves the popularity of Russian folk crafts. Besides, all products are certified, so you can eat and drink from such dishes without fear for your health. Every day, more than 400 artists create unique patterns on Slavic kegs, dishes, candle holders, vases, and music boxes, not to mention the numerous panels that adorn the offices of foreign ambassadors and ministers. There are also special exhibits that the Semyonovskaya Factory is proud of - custom-made items with Russian heraldry, emblems, and portraits of famous personalities, as well as such large-scale projects as painting the eight British airline liners in honor of the 40th anniversary of London-Moscow-London flights.
Products decorated with Khokhloma painting continue to participate in Russian and international exhibitions, receiving high awards. The Semyonov factory is considered the largest manufacturer of wooden products decorated with Khokhloma painting.
