The registry office rarely becomes a city attraction. This is quite understandable. As a rule, these are just typical and unremarkable buildings, unlike the Kazan Family Center.

The building seems to be playing with the name of the city, thanks to its shape which resembles a traditional Tatar kazan standing over a flaming fire. The legend has it that one sorcerer advised the Bulgars to build a city in a place where a dug-out cauldron of water would boil. This place was the present-day center of the city. Besides, translated from Tatar, Kazan means cauldron, hence the name of the city.

Funded by the republican budget, the Family Center was built on the right bank of the Kazanka River in 2013. It was designed by the artist and sculptor of Buryat origin Dashi Namdakov. Three years later, a sculptural composition by the same author was installed nearby. It portrays two Zilants (symbols of Kazan) and leopards (symbols of the republic) with cubs. The composition called "He and She" is dedicated to the importance of family and fidelity.

The Kazan Family Center is surrounded by a cozy recreation area for citizens and tourists. There are lawns, paths, and a fenced embankment, which often holds festivals and concerts.

Locals call their favorite registry office "the Bowl". They come here not only for weddings but also for regular events held by the city. For example, the Day of the Republic and the City, the New Year, and various sports events are annually celebrated in the Kazan Family Center.

At the top of the Family Center, there is a two-leveled observation deck. As many as 3 elevators go up to it as the number of visitors increases every year. Anyone can get here. A height of 32 meters offers a stunning view of Kazan, in particular, the Kazanka and Volga rivers, the Kazan Kremlin, the Kremlin Embankment, and other parts of the city.

In the evening, the building and the sculptures are illuminated by special lighting which creates a unique effect of a fabulous and romantic place.
