Some attractions easily fit into any route and perfectly complement each other, others require a particular approach. It is hardly possible to run through the halls of the Louvre or take a quick look at the Egyptian pyramids. It takes time. Time to feel the energy of this place, immerse yourself in its atmosphere, enjoy the view and mentally experience its history to understand, appreciate, and pay tribute to the great past.

The Kazan Kremlin is one of the sights of this kind. You want to return here again and again, discovering its new secrets every time. The oldest Tatar citadel stands on the top of a hill and proudly looks at the banks of the Kazanka River, guarding the peace of the citizens, like many centuries ago during the reign of the Khanate of Kazan. And although scientists still argue about the exact date of the foundation of the first ancient settlement, it is known for certain that Prince Hasan founded his fortress here in 1370. Unfortunately, after the siege of the city by Ivan the Terrible, the ancient citadel was ruined. Later, it was replaced by a new white-stone Kremlin. At the same time, the Kremlin was complemented by the Annunciation Cathedral and the Spasskaya Tower, the magnificent view of which can still be enjoyed today.

The Kazan Kremlin is a magnificent ensemble consisting of Tatar and Russian architectural monuments. Along with the oldest Spasskaya Tower, there are eight majestic towers, united by a defensive wall. The ancient Annunciation Cathedral peacefully neighbors the main mosque of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kul Sharif, named after the last imam of the legendary mosque of the Kazan Khanate in the 16th century. The white-stone mosque made of granite and marble with turquoise minarets is the center of the Kremlin and is a sight that makes an unforgettable impression on every tourist. Moreover, the Kazan Kremlin is the residence of the president of the republic. The modern Presidential Palace stands right on the site of the Palace of the Kazan Khans.
