According to local legend, Our Lady appeared to people in a picturesque nook of Bosnia and Herzegovina called Medjugorje. Although no one knows for sure whether this story is real or fictional, this place has been a significant center of pilgrimage, as well as a favorite destination for fans of wildlife and trendy ecotourism since ancient times.

This fabulous land of the realm of Nature, just a few kilometers from Ljubuski and the old city of Mostar, is home to the charming Kravice Waterfall, once owned by the landowner and philanthropist Zaim-beg Selimic.

The huge waterfall cascade about 25 meters high and more than 120 meters wide falls down into a picturesque blue lagoon surrounded by a sandy beach. It is formed by the rapid Trebizat River, which goes underground and then comes out 9 times during its course. The waterfall is especially fascinating in the spring, high water season: bright lush greenery is blooming around, the scents of spring flowers fill the clean air, birds sing, and a huge multicolored rainbow appears over this famous waterfall.

Although the waterfall is located in a nature reserve, swimming in the lake right under the waterfall is allowed. This can only be done in the summer months, as the water flows are too strong in the spring, so bathing can be fatal. As a rule, locals come here for a picnic. For tourists, there is an opportunity to spend a night in tents surrounded by wonderful landscapes.

Moreover, tourists can enjoy a delicious dinner or breakfast. This land is home to the best cheese in the country, the most delicious figs in the world, as well as amazing wine. There is a cozy cafe, whose hospitable hosts are always happy to offer travelers traditional Bosnian grilled dishes.
