Every stone building more than two floors in the Cayman Islands were a court, prison, art school, hospital, restaurant, and all other possible institutions. It is also about Pedro St. James Castle.

This is a very impressive building. It is one of the oldest in the Caymans. It is not clear but the first stone was put there in 1780. You hear the date, and it confuses you so much because the castle looks great. It is like the finishing work has been just done. Slaves built the house. The castle rises above the other houses in the city, though the building does not look like a typical construction.

It survived several hurricanes and was almost destroyed by fire several times. Lightning struck it. The last time was fatal for a young girl - the owner’s daughter. Lightning struck her, and the girl died. After that, the house was left for a long time.

Now it is a museum. One of the “expositions” is a plantation. It is open. This plantation has been preserved since the end of the 18th century. In addition to the halls with historical artifacts, you can find a place to relax.
