Just imagine – a beautiful, soft pink flamingo, peacefully cleans feathers, standing on one leg… And a bullet hits him!

At the beginning of the 20th century, flamingo hunting was a popular activity in the Bahamas. The locals were exterminating these beautiful creatures because of the meat and plumage. These were people and pigs. First settlers brought pigs to the Bahamas. These animals attacked flamingo nests and ate eggs.

As a result, almost all pink flamingos were exterminated in the Bahamas. But in 1965, people open the Inagua National Park. In just half a century, the population has been restored and even increased.
