Nothing in this world brings us so much warmth, good and smiles as our little friends do: animals and birds, reptiles and insects. How happy children are when they see a big elephant or hear a lion roaring. Funny monkeys and parrots can make kids laugh as well as their parents and those who would come to the animals' house and bring a delicious treat. The fauna world of Indonesia is so vibrant and diverse that visiting a zoo should be a part of every trip to this wonderful country. The Zoological Garden of Bandung, a small city on Java Island, is one of the best zoos in Indonesia.
In 1933, two old zoos, Dago Atas and Cimindi, united and moved to a new location called «Jubileum Park» where they are situated today. The botanical garden «Jubileum Park», opened in 1923 in honor of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, became the best house for all inhabitants of the most beautiful and popular zoo in Southeast Asia. New spacious aviaries and modern aquariums on the area of 15 hectares have housed more than 2000 animals from all over the world. Here you can meet enormous elephants and friendly giraffes, fearsome bears and dangerous tigers, funny kangaroos and graceful zebras. There is a separate bird pavilion where you can feed colorful toucans and blustery parrots with nuts.
The most popular place in the zoo is an aviary with giant Komodo dragons, also called Indonesian varans. The largest world’s lizards weighing about 100 kilograms and up to 3 meters long have incredibly strong tails and powerful paws. These «ugly beauties» are the favorites of all zoo visitors and are always under the attention of an enthusiastic audience.
Besides, the Zoological Garden of Bandung is home to all representatives of the amazing flora of the island, world-famous for its unique nature.
