All Africa is spread before the eyes in Mkomazi National Park. Antelopes and buffaloes graze, african wild dogs run, giraffes pluck the top leaves of trees and predators prepare for hunting - all this happens against the backdrop of the "pearl of the continent" - Mount Kilimanjaro. This is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Africa. The photo taken here can be considered a business card of both Tanzania and Africa.
When you arrive, you only notice the square snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro, which even somehow smells fresh. And then you start to notice that you are in the middle of the wild. Mkomazi is not so famous, so there are much fewer tourists here than in the Serengeti. Thus, here you will be almost alone with nature.
The name of the reserve translates as "source of water". There is the Umba River flowing through the park. You can easily find it, if not by the noise, then certainly by the accumulation of animals. It is incredible to see such rare animals as black rhinos so close! During the surge in poaching, these animals were completely exterminated, but the population has recovered. They are now held in a special fenced-in area.
Lions, leopards, buffaloes, bison, elephants, crocodiles - they are all so close! In addition to the huge number of wild animals, there are about 500 bird species. The flora of the Mkomazi National Park is also impressive: there are acacias and huge baobabs. A famous song comes to mind.
You can move around the park by car, or you can get out of the SUV to follow the tracks of wild animals and get closer to them. You can even stay here for the night. Fall asleep under the starry sky and the sounds of the African savannah, along with hundreds of wild animals. There is a tent camp, as well as several sites for camping.
A trip to Mkomazi National Park will tickle your nerves, but it will give you the most positive emotions and unforgettable impressions.
