I think nowadays people are tired of “lazy vacations”, when you are just laying on the beach, drinking cocktails and swim in the sea. Now we prefer active tourism more and enjoy all the capabilities we have to provide ourselves with not only educational but fun and interesting time spending. Talking about it, I really adore all the types of festivals
There is a variety of different festivals for any taste all over the word and I really think that sometimes emotions you can get from one of this performances worth every penny you spent on the ticket. Musical, cultural, food, artistic, fashion and other festivals are a very good opportunity to meet new people and make friends, to develop your communication skills, to learn something new in any field you like and just to spend time with pleasure and use.
But sometimes it’s so difficult to choose one place among the multiplicity of them, so I’m going to tell you about the most worthy and interesting ->
Carnival of Venice
Of course the first one I’m going to mention is Carnival of Venice settles in my lovely Italy, Venice. Every year, mostly in February or March (12 days before Ash Wednesday, the catholic ceremony) people from all over the country go to Venice and enjoy the inimitable atmosphere of medieval Italy.
It’s a holiday, when all people take on lush dresses, suits, big hats and, the most important, masks. The city streets turn into corridors of an old cathedral where you can meet thousands of people in gorgeous costumes. The entertainments are also very thematic, like different kinds of competitions, perfomances near the Piazza di San Marco, some traditional food threats, boat progression and so on.
The ball is rooted in historical past of Venice, so it’s ancient traditions are very respected and that’s what makes all the excellence of the festival. See it once, and you will never ever forget it.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts
Now it’s gonna be hot!
Coachella is an annual music and art festival held in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. Yeah, desert.
Coachella showcases popular and established musical artists, as well as emerging artists and reunited groups. Coachella is one of the largest, most famous, and most profitable music festivals in the United States and all over the world. It’s like a big opportunity to see not only one cool singer at a time but 30 of them! The famous stars just walk here among the visitors, take photos, talk, sing and so on.
Also there are some competitions and treats for guests, so even when you don’t really like the artist who is performing there is always something interesting you can do. And meet new people of course!
Please, present me one ticket to go there this year!))
Rio Carnaval
Like the previous one, this Brazilian Carnaval also used to be kinda religious and usually is celebrated in February-March. It’s held all over the country, but the most fantastic is in Rio.
It presents parade which include several performances of 12 sambo schools right on the city streets. The town just bursts into colors, feathers, tinsels and music. Every year parades are changed, so you will have no chance to see one more time what you have saw the previous year. The amazing dresses of artists, incredible dances, fantastic decorations and very tasty food are really worth seeing at least once. The emotions you get there you won’t feel anywhere else.
Boomtown Music and Film Festival
Its name speaks for itself: the festival is yearly held in Texas, USA, and unites all the artistic people for watching movies and listening to music of amateurs or professionals. It’s a cool opportunity for beginners who are trying to become more famous and present their abilities in art. It’s a place where your works will be noticed and criticized but just to help you to become more professional. For those who just likes good films and music, you can also enjoy some classic world known offsprings. Just imagine how many talanted creative people you can meet there!
La Batallа del Tomate
Okay, now it’s time to do something crazy.
On the last week of August in Bunol, Spain, all the spanish send goodbye kisses to summer and have a big festivals with colors, music, fires, dances, treats and.... tomatoes? Exactly!
In the Wednesday morning there is a signal that fight has started, and all the citizens of Bunol take ripe tomatoes from the trucks standing right in the streets and begin to throw them into each other as if it were snowballs. No matter who you are - participant or just a stranger - there is no chance for you to stay clear. The fight lasts 2 hours and then, by the second signal, it stops. All the city and everyone who is outside are under the tomato puree. It may seem to be crazy but I’m sure that it’s really fun! Again, amoung the fighters, laugh and tomaaaatoes it easy to make new friends. Very, very cool!
Oktoberfest
For those who doesn’t like tomatoes I can offer a very cool thing - the greatest beer festival in the world which is held in the beer capital - Munhen, Germany.
It’s also a historical event, and all the traditions are honored. The beer marathon is started by the Munhen mayor opening the beer can, and then for two weeks people can enjoy all the existing kinds of beer for free. There always are 14 beer tents. There also is an amusement park besides, what can seem not to be a good idea but nobody cares- moreover, it makes festival more suitable for children, though sometimes they are also allowed to have a can :)
But those who is not fond of beer Octoberfest captivate by decorations, music, entertainments and just by this friendly atmosphere. Seriously, I’m just 16 but I dream to visit it!
Lantern Festival
The Chinese New Year holiday comes to its climax with Lantern Festival.
Began over 2000 years ago, the festival has developed many meanings. It celebrates family reunions and society, features ancient spiritual traditions. Some also call this the “true” Chinese Valentine’s Day.
The many activities include moon gazing, lighting lanterns, riddles, lion dances and eating rice balls. According to the lunar calendar, the festival takes place on January 15.
The festival is worth visiting at least because it looks really amazing. The thousands of lights are let off at one time and the dark night sky becomes as bright as it was day. Exiting, touching and tremendous, it won’t will not leave anyone indifferent.
There is only 7 from tens of amazing Festivals, and I already can’t wait to visit one of them! Of you know some other event we must know about, please, tell us in the comments below. Let’s communicate! ❤️
